Quality, HSE and Environmental Co-ordinator

Terberg DTS UK is looking for a Quality, HSE and Environmental Co-ordinator to join our growing Business Support team.

Location: Elland, Halifax

What is the job role?

Provide proactive co-ordination / administration support in line with company policies, quality standards and legislation.  Supporting in the identifying and mitigating site risks, enhancing working conditions, and ensuring compliance with both industrial safety standards and environmental regulations.  Playing a key role in promoting environmental sustainability, supporting the development and implementation of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.  In collaboration with the Quality Manager and Health and Safety Manager, support the development, implementation, and maintenance of these key standards, while actively fostering a culture of safety and sustainability across the organization. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to HSE best practices, with a passion for both safeguarding the wellbeing of our people and minimizing our environmental impact.

  • Provide comprehensive support to the Environmental, Quality, and Health & Safety Managers in fulfilling their duties and ensuring HSE objectives are achieved across the organisation.
  • Conduct detailed monthly site inspections, including general safety, environmental, fire, and equipment checks, documenting findings and ensuring timely corrective actions are implemented.
  • Act as a liaison between site and regional service teams, delivering safety information and guidance to field engineers to ensure consistent compliance with HSE standards.
  • Perform and document COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) risk assessments, ensuring site activities comply with safety and environmental requirements.
  • Monitor and document environmental test results for noise, air, and water on-site, ensuring all readings comply with legal and environmental regulations.
  • Organise, coordinate, and track relevant training courses for employees, ensuring the workforce remains knowledgeable and compliant with HSE regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of training, legal compliance, and other essential data on an Excel database for easy access and reference.
  • Carry out fire drills, fire safety tests, and other mandatory checks in accordance with current legislation to ensure preparedness and compliance.
  • Support and perform administrative duties within the QHSE department, maintaining organised systems and up-to-date records.
  • Lead the induction process for new employees, ensuring they receive essential training and safety information from day one.
  • Deliver in-house training sessions on HSE topics, tailored to site-specific requirements, to ensure continuous learning and development within the team.
  • Be prepared to travel occasionally to the Fire Division in Gloucester and Holmatro in Nottingham, supporting HSE initiatives and inspections at these locations.
  • Identify, assess, and analyse site risks, developing improvement initiatives to enhance working conditions, ensure industrial safety, and protect the environment.
  • Develop and propose an annual HSE action plan, working with site management to prioritise initiatives and ensure a proactive safety culture is embedded within the organisation.
  • Actively participate in HSE networks and forums to share best practices, stay updated on industry trends, and drive continuous improvement across all HSE functions.
  • Oversee the reporting and analysis of key HSE indicators (e.g., FR0t, environmental data) to track performance, highlight areas for improvement, and drive corrective actions where necessary.
  • Organise and conduct regular HSE audits and training sessions to ensure the business maintains high safety and environmental standards and meets compliance requirements.
  • Support the Quality Manager in maintaining and implementing the Environmental Management System (EMS) across the business, ensuring it aligns with ISO 14001 standards.
  • Conduct internal audits and layered process audits to ensure compliance with both internal standards and external regulations.
  • To work with all departments, particularly with projects that are being explored or implemented.
  • Undertake any other duties consistent with the purpose of this job or to support the needs of the business.
