Credit Controller

Terberg DTS UK is looking for an Credit Controller to join our Accounts Team.

Location: Elland, Halifax

What is the job role?

The purpose of the role is to ensure that all customer debt is paid within agreed payment terms to ensure prompt cash collection and keep aged debt to a minimum.  To assist with cash management and bank reconciliation as part of the finance team.   

Requirements and what we are looking for

  • Daily bank reconciliation.
  • Allocate payments and receipts to sales, purchase and nominal ledgers.
  • Update Credit Controller’s report daily when bank have been posted.
  • Follow up on unallocated receipts with customers.
  • Proactively engaging with customers to confirm payment dates and amounts.
  • Record notes/details of customer contact in the credit controller’s spreadsheet.
  • Follow up with customers on invoices due but missing from promised payment run.
  • Record invoice queries on the query list and update as required.
  • Resolve invoice queries with customers and internally to ensure prompt payment.
  • Send month end statements to all customers.
  • Send copy invoices to relevant customers.
  • Accurately upload sales invoices to customer invoice portals.
  • Monitor shared and personal email boxes and attend to in a timely manner.
  • Escalate any concerns over unpaid invoices and potential bad debts to Senior Credit Controller.
  • Escalate the treatment of any cash allocation issues or potential adjustments that you are unsure about to the Senior Credit Controller.
  • Review proforma accounts and report to Senior Credit Controller on a weekly basis.
  • Open and maintain new customer accounts in line with company procedures.
  • Review daily Experian updates, address any concerns to the Financial Controller and/or Senior Credit Controller.
  • Raise sales credit notes in line with company procedures.
  • Undertake any other duties consistent with the purpose of this job or to support the needs of the business.
